Thank you for
stopping by for a short visit.... We of the Mt. Horeb Chapter (#57 R.A.M.) and Council
(#41 R. & S. M.) are members of what we call the country Lodge. Mt. Horeb Lodge
has a long tradition and history in the Great State of Texas. Many of the brothers
maintain a dual membership on both our lodge (Mt. Hiram) and the Mt. Horeb (the country
lodge) located in Mahomet, Texas. The township of Mahomet has suffered a drastic
decline in population over the passing years. Rather than allowing the light of
Masonry dwindle and die, many of our brothers make the journey to the country lodge in
Mohomet once a month on the fourth Saturday for the monthly stated meetings. We enjoy a
special relationship with our brethren at
Mt. Horeb.
Members of Mt. Hiram Lodge who seek continued expansion and growth in Masonry generally become affiliate with the Chapter and Council at Mt. Horeb. The members of the Mt. Horeb Chapter and Council either continue their personal growth in York Rite Masonry by affiliating with the Commandary in either Temple or Llano.
It might also be of interest to many that Mt. Horeb maintains special relationships with the Chapter and Council Lodge associated with Valley Lodge # 175 A.F. A.M. in the wonderful town of Burnet, Texas and with the Killeen Lodge # 1125.
York Rite Masonry is a democratic rite and thus is sometimes called The American Rite.
American in that its history coincides with that of the American Republic. The General Chapter of Royal Arch Masons was established in 1797.
Are you currently a Master Mason? I suspect that you might be or you might be a good man in your community. If you are the later than you must first petition your lodge and progress to the degree of Master Mason prior to joining us.
The York Rite of Freemasonry is a system of degrees which includes those of the lodge, chapter, council, and commandary. these degrees according to the General Grand Chapter are often refereed to as American Rite Masonry. While most of the degrees of this rite were born and nurtured in England, it is only in America that there is a regular arrangement of the degrees. In the tradition of Masonry the York Rite continues the tradition by giving you a better understanding of the Masonic system, additional Masonic contacts, and an explanation of that great symbolism upon which the fraternity has built a glorious superstructure. These degrees are not merely degrees but are exemplifications of homely virtues often neglected and lost sight of in the busy lives we now live. Each Masonic degree teaches some specific virtue, and exemplifies it in a dramatic way intended to make deep impressions on those who witness or receive it. Some men spend their entire lives learning the lessons necessary to make them living stones in the great spiritual temple. These degrees focus on honesty, charity , hormony, justice, spirituality, service, fortitude, hope, prudence, fidelity, truth, religion, faith, love, and toleration.
A special thank you is extended to Dan Pushee who has provided brutal honesty in his assistance and also to thank him for allowing us to use his clipart!!! Thanks Dan. Please check out his Webring above.
